Winter Activity Time

Winter has blown in and increased life’s difficulty level. When snow covers everything, the cold has a way of burrowing into your bones, and the seasonal depression squishes you like an elephant. It’s easy to get trapped by the struggles of day-to-day life and ignore the beauty of the season. But that brings us to the challenge that we here at Great Miami Dental Associates have for you this year—take a deep breath and let the gorgeous winter wonderland transport you to your happy place!

But where are you supposed to start? For most of us, planning out seasonal activities can often feel like we have to travel out of our way. But all it takes is one glance outside, and you’ll see we live in our very own winter wonderland. Sure, if you’ve been here for a while, it can be difficult to see the magic. So what are some fun, family activities right here in Middleton that you can enjoy, despite the cold weather?

Go ice skating at Middletown’s outdoor rinks.

With the low temperatures, it can be extra difficult to get outside. We get it! But sometimes, as soon as you get going that extra mental effort is completely worth it! Ice skating at one of our local, outdoor rinks definitely falls under that category. Completely family friendly, this activity is sure to bring the entire family long-lasting memories.

An all-time favorite in the area is the yearly Holiday Whopla. The entire place is covered in festive lights, and you’re sure to have a blast! So get those coats on and get out there and make some memories.

Visit local winter festivals and events.

When you live in a winter wonderland, it’s best to take advantage of all of the local winter festivals and events only a short drive away.

“A Very Merry Middletown” is a 67-day festival that begins on November 15th and runs until January 20. Beginning at the end of November, the 96-acre winter wonderland opens for all to enjoy. This is a one-of-a-kind light display to enchant every child at heart. Events change throughout the season, so be sure to see what’s coming next! Christmas parades, carriage rides, and fantastic choir performances. Of course, there are plenty of local dining opportunities to take in while you’re there!

In the late part of December, it’s time to explore the Christmas Glow. Located just north of Middletown, this drive-through light display will transport you back to a time of childhood magic. This trail is two miles long, and consists of over 3.8 million lights!

Explore Smith Park for winter walks.

When the weather is cooperating and you crave some refreshing time outside, you don’t have to go any farther than Smith Park! This beautiful park is 96 acres of pure wonderland. There’s a skatepark, a playground for the littles, trails all around, and even a shorter trail system designed specifically for younger kiddos to learn all about nature.

So this winter, what are you waiting for? Grab your coat! It’s time to soak in all that winter has to offer!

Warm up with a hot drink at a cozy local café.

One of our favorite things to do during the holiday season is support those local small businesses! One easy way to do this is to go warm up at a local café. Hot chocolate, anyone?

Whenever you get that craving for some hot cocoa, or need a new favorite latte, look no further than Triple Moon Coffee Company. Whatever you’re craving, they’re sure to have the perfect treat to warm you right up!

Try sledding down a local hill.

Living in a winter wonderland, it can be strange to think that many places don’t ever get to experience the thrill of sledding. But here, there are magical sledding locations everywhere. You’ve inevitably heard at least one person say, “that one hill is the best place to go!” If not, ask around! Chances are, the perfect place is just around the corner. So whenever you get the chance, grab your kids’ coats and pull the sleds out of the garage. It’s time to make memories!

Don’t forget the dentist!

If you find that seasonal depression is seeping into your bones, it’s time to get out of the house and on the move! Whether you go sledding down a local hill, take a walk at the park, go ice skating with the family, or simply grab a coffee, it’s sure to help you feel just a little better.

While you’re out wandering our own winter wonderland, be sure to get those regular dental cleanings on the calendar. They not only keep your teeth sparkling and clean but also help prevent issues such as tooth decay. So, before you go on your next winter adventure, get online and request your next appointment!
